COVID Water Crisis

COVID Water Crisis

This newsletter is focused on news about family law, employment
law, and immigration law, and of late issues have focused on COVID-19
and it’s impact on the practice of law, and the clients who are served by
lawyers.

Today’s issue is devoted to taking action on behalf of those folks who
are neither lawyers or their clients BUT are impacted by COVID-19 and are
facing having essential utilities removed – water!

Consumer Reports has sent the following urgent e-mail for your
consideration:

With the coronavirus crisis entering its six month and 30 million people
unemployed, countless Americans could see their water, power, or internet
disconnected this month unless Congress acts now.

You can help! Call your U.S. Senators and ask them to include a ban on utility shutoffs in the coronavirus-relief bill being negotiated this week.

Make a Call

Searing summer temperatures mean soaring electric and water bills. And that couldn’t come at a worse time, as state moratoriums on utility shut-offs expire across the nation, and Congress has yet to approve a new expansion of unemployment benefits. The same goes for a home internet connection, which is vital for so many students returning to virtual classrooms this month.

Call your Senators to #PutPeopleFirst in this next coronavirus relief package. Senators can easily pass a national moratorium on utility shut-offs until we get through the worst of this pandemic.

Make a Call

Increase your impact by sharing this email with friends and family so they can join you in calling their Senators. Let’s make sure to #PutPeopleFirst in the next relief bill!

Sincerely,
Meg Bohne
