I am taking the opportunity to forward a recent e-mail from the founders of Pandemic Parenting (see: pandemic-parent.org) Dr. Amanda Zelechoski a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist and attorney, specializing in trauma, currently Professor of Psychology and Director of Clinical Training at Purdue University Northwest, and Dr. Lindsay Malloy Associate Professor of Psychology at Ontario Tech University, specializing in developmental and forensic psychology.
There weekly newsletter and post are invaluable and this is a good time as we head into another year of COVID to remind you of the resource:
It’s been a little while since we’ve introduced ourselves, and there’s no better time for introductions than the start of a new year.
As psychologists, professors, and researchers, we spend much of our time studying how negative experiences impact children and the many ways children communicate their needs and emotions. And, as moms, we have been struggling right along with you to figure out how to adequately meet our children’s needs in the midst of a global pandemic.
We cope by doing what we know how to do best — conducting research. We each spent 2020 gathering data on how COVID-19 is affecting hundreds of families in the U.S. and Canada. As the pandemic stretched on, we felt it important that we share findings from the most recent and relevant research out there.
We created Pandemic Parenting to provide a platform where we and other experts can share science-based knowledge, experience, and resources. Whether it’s through our podcast, webinars, blogs, or social media, we want to meet you where you’re at with tools you can use to navigate this pandemic.
We're so glad you've joined us and this community of thousands of parents and caregivers all over the world!
Sincerely,
Dr. Amanda Zelechoski & Dr. Lindsay Malloy
